you get excited about the supermarket. The real deal I’m talking about now, you know the kind of super market who has other stuff than 32 different kind of noodles. So I’m in Bali for a romantic week with myself and I spent the last hour or so walking around the isles like a shop lifter with no purpose going ahhhh ohhhh whaaaaa. Picking stuff off the shelf and putting them back. It was overwhelming. I didn’t know what to get. So I left with a package of Green Tea. Oh the fancy imported stuff? No the exact same one that I buy at my local kampung AlfaMart. Bali – Kampung, 0 – 1

I’ve just been surfing
The vegan groups on Facebook that I’m in are talking about the new dairy free Magnums, that’s the latest and greatest happening in the vegan community for months. I don’t know when I had an ice cream the last time but I don’t care to much. I’m just busy enjoying this monsoon village, well it’s a monsoon without rain or very little of it this season. But the wave is small and fun. Like always. Good for logging they say. Good for the soul. Grateful to be here.
What I Wanted to Learn
She is so peaceful and always with a smile on her face. Nothing seems to bother her, she just does her own thing. I want to be more like her. I’m enjoying the ocean but something is off. There is this (old) guy out in the surf who seems so arrogant, he won’t smile and keeps snaking everyone and we’re just a handful of people out. When I head up to the point he does the same to me. Like it’s all there just for him, like he is a little bit more important than the rest of us. But she doesn’t care, just shrugs her shoulders and moves on with so much grace. I want to be like that to. But instead I get angry so angry and I loose my shit and yell out. It’s a few days later and I realize I have so much to be grateful for, there is no room for small stuff from old grumpy men.
This makes me want to go logging!
The rain outside is torrential – I’m rugged up with tea and a cold watching surf clips and thinking it’s time for travels 🙂

Peace, Love & Nasi Goreng
Aduh! I’ve been dawn patrolling my local beach lots lately but always in my heart I miss this one 🙂
She’s 6″10 and single…
Took out a demo board from PCC for a surf this morning, was it to much fun? Wondering if I need to keep it.
The itch
When the swell gave you a sore neck leaving you stuck on the beach for days. When you’ve made non ocean related plans for the next four days (seriously who does that). When your next trip to Indonesia is months away. Yep that’s when the surf itch kicks in – you all know the feeling right 🙂
Words Of Wisdom
“A jug fills drop by drop.”
So true. Life is about baby steps, and patience. Anything worth having is worth waiting for, and this teaching serves to remind us that life is all about the little things.
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.”
Essentially, our thoughts become our actions. Filling your mind with positive thoughts results in positive actions.
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”
Harboring hate and resentment lowers your quality of life, not the person you are resenting. We are all human, and we all make mistakes. Forgiveness is the key to happiness.
“However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?”
Actions speak louder than words. You can talk about doing great things and having high ambitions, but unless you act on them, that is all they are: words
“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.”
Self discipline, self control, and self awareness are all essential elements to living a good life. There is no one in this world holding you back, except for you.
“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”
Being thankful is the direct result of appreciating what you have. Appreciating each day for the opportunity simply to live it. You didn’t get to where you are, so be thankful for the experiences – good and bad- that have brought you to where you are.
“It is better to travel well than to arrive.”
Never stop moving forward. life is all about making the best of it, and as soon as you settle, you stop learning, growing, and achieving.
Jet lag In Halmstad At 5am
After a 38 hour flight to Sweden from the land down under (Australia) there was one thing I needed more then anything else, that was SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP. So after trying to stay up for as long as possible i finally went to sleep about 6pm, after sleeping for a good 10-11 hours i was ready to start my european adventures . The only thing is it was 4:30 am, the thing is, everyone in europe is sleeping at that time, and won’t get out of bed till at last 10am. So what will a KIWI boy that likes to get up at sunrise do at 5am with jet lag and no friends??? He takes out his camera and takes some photos of Halmstad for the blog…
Fog Over The Farm
New Zealand sunrise, no more to say …… 🙂
Some Fun Ones With The Porta
Got some fun waves on my boy Portas on our last day in Medewi. We had it all to ourselves for about 40min, till the pro tour come out (haha).. The last 2 days were the best super fun and bigger but today was the only day we got photos 🙂 IT was fun surfing with the Ports over the week, next time i hope we have a month or two … 🙂
Got a little over confident the late take off 🙁

Working The Street Corner
What do you do when you have to catch are ride in Indonesia, but you don’t know what time they are picking you up, and the only instruction you have are to wait outside a hotel from 5pm till they come ??????????? You work the street with you camera. This is what I shot in the hour we had to wait, I could only move about 2 meters from our bags, so was happy to get some cool fun shots 🙂
Day Trip Part 2 – Green Valley
After the green canyon we jumped on the scooters and hit the road for about 30 minuets to find the green valley (easy when you have a guide). But first things first FOOD FOOD FOOD. A little lunch stop and everyone started to feel a lot more happier, even our guide started to talk & move his hangover must have started to get a little bit better. The green Valley is a very cool place, it has a big cave that you can swim into that gets very dark, so dark you (ME) might get a little scared if you swim in to fare. There is also some tree roots you can climb up to ledge, that you can jump from if you like that kind of thing.. If you don’t think the green valley is that cool I have saved the best till last. It has a waterfall that you can jump off, then you can swim under the waterfall into a little cave, just like in the movies. On the way home we stopped for a photo or 10 but to top it all off we got to go over a bamboo bridge, that can only hold one scooter at a time. So i was hopping all the pancakes I have been eating was not going to make me to heavy and make us end up in the river…
FOOD FOOD FOOD The guide alive at last The cave and the jump spot

Day Trip Part 1- Green Canyon
Today we tried to be like most tourists and do a day trip. So we got a little gang together and our new local friend & guide for the day to show us round. First stop was the corner cafe to get a second breakfast as 50% on the gang stayed up way to late having drinks with our guide, who was now so hangover that I think he needed to die or at lest sleep for 3 days… So after a late start we hit the road to our first stop the green canyon. To get to the canyon you need to get a boat for about 30 minutes its a nice chilled ride up the river, then you need to park the boat & pay extra, so you can swim and explore the canyon, but its worth it. The boat ride was awesome but exploring the canyon was amazing ..
The Gang almost ready to roll 🙂 ZzzzzZzzZzzzz
Jumping from the rock was cool, I don’t why, but the rock is super smooth not like any of the other rocks in the canyon. There is a very small water fall, that falls onto the rock so i think there mast be something in the water, but thats just my guess 🙂 Look over there its a another tourist …….. Our guide sleeping we took about 10 photos before we woke him up. He was looking all Zen, but I think it was just his hangover working overtime ……
Longboarding With Pax Take #1
We have been here in Batu Karas for about 2 weeks and I was starting to get a little over it. There has been no waves and then when the waves came there was a surf comp on grrrrr. I was thinking what to do then Lisa (legend) one of the ozzy girls we meet let me take out her longboard. It took about 3-4 waves to get the hang of it and then I started having fun fun fun.. The next day off I went to rent a longboard for the week, there was a lot of people dropping in (Sara was even one) but I still got a wave or 3 on my WMD (9.4 longboard). Here are some of the photos from my afternoon surf on my newly rented longboard with a Gopro mount haha lucky we have a Gopro ready for action..
Almost losing my head to someone not holding on to there board…
Getting a little drop in LOvE by SaRa (Girls first) haha x
Been talking about that selfie stick for a while…
Midigama Temple
On Buddhas birthday we also went up to the temple at Midigama. Here are some photos of the temple & some of the cool locals we meet.. Some monks, you know, just standing around 🙂
24 Buddhas but i could only get 10 in the photo 🙂 I wanted to get a photo with me and Sara with the monk boys, but monks can’t touch or be seen with woman, so i had to go it alone.. Some photos of the local hipsters, a cool lot of kids, they where happy to try to talk to us and get their photo taken…
One More Day Out Of The Water
I have another day out of the water, so I had little morning photo walk not to much going on but this is what i found 🙂 ……
Hurry for the home made curry
At the Senya guest house they make there curry from start to finish & we had the opportunity to spend the day with Senerath the owner of Senya Guest house, to help him make his world famous curry.. The day starts with a trip to the local markets where he buys only fresh ingredients. We walk around looking at all the vegetables, but Senerath looks feels and moves on (without buying much) till he finds what he know is fresh, it all look good to me lucky I’m not the cook. We even have to go to other market because there no good mushroom at that market. After a hour or two we are back from the shopping ready to start the preparation for the six currys he will be making that night. The preparation takes about 2-3 hours even with four of us (trying) helping him. We even make the coconut milk by shedding all the inside of the coconut & mixing it with water and other secret ingredients. Then its business time and we all just stand around like we know how to cook, but we are all just getting in the way i think, but Senerath is to nice to tell us to leave. Senerath says that cooking good curry is like science just the right amount of this and that (we all just look at him & nod like we cook good curry all the time :). But when its time to eat I for 1 know i can’t cook anything with that much love and flavour, in the end we all eat way to much, but have the happiest bellys in all Sri Lanka..
