Take a look and make up your own mind

We live  in a fast paced world, with so much information about climate change & food, there are people saying this is right and some other people saying that is right, so it makes it hard to know what to think.

Here are two documentaries that has help me to think for myself. Watch them and make up you own mind. Some of you will love them and some will think its all !@#$%^&* but thats up to you..

There you have everything from the great photographers to the new up and comers. This place for seeing photography or art is set up so perfect, each pice had its own light and the room is almost dark. The Place was so amazing i can’t wait to come back and do it all again real soon..  Here are some photos i took from inside, i hope one day you will also get to go have a look around yourself and see how amazing it is….. xthe-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--19the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--1 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--2 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--3 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--4 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--5 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--6 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--7 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--8 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--9 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--10 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--11 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--12 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--13 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--14 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--15 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--16 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--17 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--18

The Big Smoke – Stockholm

Today I went to the big smoke of Sweden, Stockholm and man it wasn’t a let down. Stockholm has to be one of the prettiest city I have seen. I knew it was going to be a great old european city, but it was next level.  I walk around for a bit until we ended up on this lookout that over looked the city, I was so amazed to see such a view.

One thing I found a little funny about the swedes is that they don’t say hi to each other, even if they are looking  right at each other (what the).. So for this crazy kiwi that says hi to everyone even if they are look the other way, I found a little weird. I think they thought i was a little crazy or on something, but a Kiwi got to do what a Kiwi got to do..

The photos of the people on the bike from the 1940’s was not from a ride in a time machine, it was (I’m guessing) some bike ride though the city and everyone dress up and rides bikes from that era.

The you know what blows my mind the most about Stockholm? Bands,  like real bands come to play there. When we where walking round the streets of Stockholm I’ve seen a poster or Tame Impala, thats so crazy that anyone come this far. (Just joking Sweden has lots of great music and bands).

My Human Family

36372_121957181180813_121956711180860_109275_6023093_nI have been cruising the roads of the world now for a while, and in this time I have meet so many amazing people. These people have been from all corners of this planet, some white (or pink after sun), black, some from the west and some from the east, some with long hair and some with none. Some can speak so many languages & some like me just one. I have meet people from all major religions and and some with no religion at all. With all the people I have meet over my travels 99.9% of them have been amazing people, that would help me out with whatever I needed, from watching out for me in the surf, sharing their food to giving me a place to stay for free with no alternate motive. Why do you i think they do this for some crazy kiwi boy they don’t really know?? I think it’s because when we take our ego out of it, it’s not them and us, it’s just us our human family looking out for each other, as they would like me to do if they come to my home town in need of a place to stay and food to eat. So next time you see someone that’s not from your neighborhood you should go say hi, you might have an amazing conversation, or make a friend, with you human brother of sister.. Just a thought that’s all xxUnknown-1

Words Of Wisdom

“A jug fills drop by drop.”

So true. Life is about baby steps, and patience. Anything worth having is worth waiting for, and this teaching serves to remind us that life is all about the little things.

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.”

Essentially, our thoughts become our actions. Filling your mind with positive thoughts results in positive actions.

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”

Harboring hate and resentment lowers your quality of life, not the person you are resenting. We are all human, and we all make mistakes. Forgiveness is the key to happiness.

“However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?”

Actions speak louder than words. You can talk about doing great things and having high ambitions, but unless you act on them, that is all they are: words

“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.”

Self discipline, self control, and self awareness are all essential elements to living a good life. There is no one in this world holding you back, except for you.

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”

Being thankful is the direct result of appreciating what you have. Appreciating each day for the opportunity simply to live it. You didn’t get to where you are, so be thankful for the experiences – good and bad- that have brought you to where you are.

“It is better to travel well than to arrive.”

Never stop moving forward. life is all about making the best of it, and as soon as you settle, you stop learning, growing, and achieving.

Jet lag In Halmstad At 5am

After a 38 hour flight to Sweden from the land down under (Australia) there was one thing I needed more then anything else, that was SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP.  So after trying to stay up for as long as possible i finally went to sleep about 6pm,  after sleeping for a good 10-11 hours i was ready to start my european adventures . The only thing is it was 4:30 am, the thing is, everyone in europe is sleeping at that time, and won’t get out of bed till at last 10am. So what will a KIWI boy that likes to get up at sunrise do at 5am with jet lag and no friends??? He takes out his camera and takes some photos of Halmstad for the blog…

The Start Of Art – Glassing A Surfboard Part 1

We are have moved to a cool little town somewhere in Java, we love it so much we’ll keep it a secret  for a another week or three (HAHA). The cool thing is the place we are staying with with a little surfboard factory out the back of it. They just happened to be doing the fiber glass on one of their boards and lets us take photos. They made it look so easy, but i know it would be way harder then it looks .  A big thanks to Keona shapes for letting us take the photos 🙂 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--5the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--3the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--2the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--1the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--4the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--6the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--7 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--8 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--9 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--10 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--11 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--12 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--13 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--14 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--15 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--16 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--17 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--18 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--20 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--21   the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--24the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--23

Working The Street Corner

What do you do when you have to catch are ride in Indonesia, but you don’t know what time they are picking you up, and the only instruction you have are to wait outside a hotel from 5pm till they come ??????????? You work the street with you camera. This is what I shot in the hour we had to wait, I could only move about 2 meters from our bags, so was happy to get some cool fun shots 🙂 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--1

Day Trip Part 2 – Green Valley

After the green canyon we jumped on the scooters and hit the road for about 30 minuets to find the green valley (easy when you have a guide). But first things first FOOD FOOD FOOD. A little lunch stop and everyone started to feel a lot more happier, even our guide started to talk & move his hangover must have started to get a little bit better. The green Valley is a very cool place, it has a big cave that you can swim into that gets very dark,  so dark you (ME) might get a little scared if you swim in to fare. There is also some tree roots you can climb up to ledge, that you can jump from if you like that kind of thing.. If you don’t think the green valley is that cool I have saved the best till last. It has a waterfall that you can jump off, then you can swim under the waterfall into a little cave, just like in the movies. On the way home we stopped for a photo or 10 but to top it all off we got to go over a bamboo bridge, that can only hold one scooter at a time. So i was hopping all the pancakes I have been eating was not going to make me to heavy and make us end up in the river…

Day Trip Part 1- Green Canyon

Today we tried to be like most tourists and do a day trip. So we got a little gang together and our new local friend & guide for the day to show us round. First stop was the corner cafe to get a second breakfast as 50% on the gang stayed up way to late having drinks with our guide, who was now so hangover that I think he needed to die or at lest sleep for 3 days… So after a late start we hit the road to  our first stop the green canyon. To get to the canyon you need to get a boat for about 30 minutes its a nice chilled ride up the river, then you need to park the boat & pay extra, so you can  swim and explore the canyon, but its worth it. The boat ride was awesome but exploring the canyon was amazing ..

The Gang almost ready to roll  🙂 ZzzzzZzzZzzzz

There is a very small water fall, that falls onto the rock so i think there mast be something in the water, but thats just my guess  🙂 DCIM100GOPROG0173654. DCIM100GOPROG0163649. Longboarding With Pax Take #1

We have been here in Batu Karas for about 2 weeks and I was starting to get a little over it. There has been no waves and then when the waves came there was a surf comp on grrrrr. I was thinking what to do then Lisa (legend) one of the ozzy girls we meet let me take out her longboard.  It took about 3-4 waves to get the hang of it and then I started having fun fun fun.. The next day off I went to rent a longboard for the week, there was a lot of people dropping in (Sara was even one) but I still got a wave or 3 on my WMD (9.4 longboard).  Here are some of the photos from my afternoon surf on my newly rented longboard with a Gopro mount haha lucky we have a Gopro  ready for action..

Almost losing my head to someone not holding on to there board…

Sri Lanka Train Trip

After 2 months in Sri Lanka its was time to hit the road and head for Indonesia. But before we set flight there was one thing i had to do and had be waiting the whole time for, A train trip thought the mountains. The only thing was the night before i got sick, i spend the night talking to the toilet and we become good friends…  So 5am come round and i was not looking forward to getting on that train. We did get there in the end, and it was lucky that we booked tickets the night before, because  we spend almost 4 hours alone on the train.. I was lucky i didn’t have to make friends with the toilet again but it was still a long 10 hours, when you are not feeling the best. I now have to go back and do it again,  it had some amazing views and i loved it, but i spend most of my time feeling sorry for myself. If you do end up in Ella, do the walks and the train (maybe only 2-3 hours) it was great and hope you all  will love it as much as i did (and don’t get sick)… 🙂the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-sri-lanka-midigama-mirissa-surfing-sunset-3the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-sri-lanka-midigama-mirissa-surfing-sunset-1 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-sri-lanka-midigama-mirissa-surfing-sunset-4 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-sri-lanka-midigama-mirissa-surfing-sunset-5 DCIM100GOPROGOPR3355.
