It’s time to say goodbye

and for some reason you have four (seriously who does this) logs that’s decided to leave the country with you. Well it gets interesting because well people always find it funny to look at western girls especially when they are accompanied by big and heavy surfboards and other junk trying not to run over people or knock down to many signs. We also picked the best time to leave, just at the beginning of the rainy season so there was flooding and landslides to put into the travel plan. Pretty excited that despite the poor odds we reached the airport in normal time (8 hours in the car, ha ha) but now we had like 5 hours or so to kill  at the airport and what do you do with your four logs and other junk? Well we decided to leave them just in front of the airport where our driver dropped us of with our new taxi driver (and other random hangarounds) friends while we went for makan and a few rounds of Uno. All good we where right thinking no one would like to take of with our boards in the middle of the city because when we came back a few hours later they where still sitting where we left them. So much for not leaving your bags unattended…

The Place was so amazing i can’t wait to come back and do it all again real soon..  Here are some photos i took from inside, i hope one day you will also get to go have a look around yourself and see how amazing it is….. xthe-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--19the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--1 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--2 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--3 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--4 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--5 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--6 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--7 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--8 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--9 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--10 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--11 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--12 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--13 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--14 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--15 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--16 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--17 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--18

Working The Street Corner

What do you do when you have to catch are ride in Indonesia, but you don’t know what time they are picking you up, and the only instruction you have are to wait outside a hotel from 5pm till they come ??????????? You work the street with you camera. This is what I shot in the hour we had to wait, I could only move about 2 meters from our bags, so was happy to get some cool fun shots 🙂 the-sidewalk-secrets-travel-blog-surf-surfing-sunset--1

Day Trip Part 1- Green Canyon

Today we tried to be like most tourists and do a day trip. So we got a little gang together and our new local friend & guide for the day to show us round. First stop was the corner cafe to get a second breakfast as 50% on the gang stayed up way to late having drinks with our guide, who was now so hangover that I think he needed to die or at lest sleep for 3 days… So after a late start we hit the road to  our first stop the green canyon. To get to the canyon you need to get a boat for about 30 minutes its a nice chilled ride up the river, then you need to park the boat & pay extra, so you can  swim and explore the canyon, but its worth it. The boat ride was awesome but exploring the canyon was amazing ..

The Gang almost ready to roll  🙂 ZzzzzZzzZzzzz

There is a very small water fall, that falls onto the rock so i think there mast be something in the water, but thats just my guess  🙂 DCIM100GOPROG0173654. DCIM100GOPROG0163649. Our guide sleeping we took about 10 photos before we woke him up. He was looking all Zen, but I think it was just his hangover working overtime ……

Photo bomb = first week in Sri Lanka!

After two weeks in Thailand we jumped planes and ended up in a very quiet Sri Lankan village called Midigama not to be confused with Welligama or Mirissa…
There’s not to much going on here except for surfing which is exactly what we are after. So happy to be sharing fun little waves with turtles, and the water is so clear and warm – just loving it.

We’ve been hanging out with Mike & Viv for a few days having some rum, crashing peoples quiet and romantic dinner (sorry – it was the rum’s fault!), celebrating st patty’s day with some crazy irish, checking out the old Portuguese fort in Galle just north of where we are staying, surviving this crazy Sri Lankan disco bus ride with neon Buddha dancing at the front and eating some amazing curries – thanks Mike and Vivo – good times! Some photos from the past days below.

From where I’d rather be

Winter over here’s just started, it’s not winter like back in Sweden with minus 22 degrees and snow but still I’m freezing, they’ve forgotten about isolation and things like that over here… In our unit it’s colder than outside I’m pretty sure.

I’ve brought out my winter booties from the closet for yesterdays surf, the water is not that bad just the bloody wind makes it so chilly. I miss tropical waters, bikini surfs, nasi goreng, pocari sweat. Some photos from Bali below, it’s been way to long now. It used to be like my second home and now I haven’t been over for more than a year…

Qantas how did you manage this?!

Got off the plane on Sunday night in Sydney and went to pick up our boards. Pax thought the board bag looked a bit dusty and it did have a few holes in it so we opened it up to have a peek. Just to find out both surf boards were snapped in half! How is it even possible? We’ve seen from the plane window when they offloaded our luggage placing the board bag sideways in the carriage with one part sticking out so they must have driven into something to small, smashing the part sticking out to break I reckon. Anyways we headed over to the Qantas service desk just to be met by a grumpy lady that just said that since it’s fragile baggage Qantas takes no responsibility and we’ve signed the waiver and so on.

I’ve traveled so much with surf boards on different airlines for the last few years and a ding or a dent yeah that’s fair enough – it happens, but both our boards snapped in half?! That’s just not cool especially coming from an Australian airline that you would assume would be used to handling surf boards. We’ve sent a complaint through to the Qantas baggage claims so let’s see what they say.  On the bright side I’m glad it happened on the way back and I guess we need to shop for new boards now.
